Hi there,
How are you taking care of yourself this week?
I’ve been inexplicably exhausted the past few days (or maybe explicably exhausted—the world sure is a lot), so I’ve been trying to be kinder to myself. I’ve been sleeping in a little, and even took a quick midday nap yesterday.
I also decided not to watch the US presidential debate right before bed on Tuesday night. That’s my time to transform into the Sleepytime Bear, not get enraged, tyvm. It was much easier to handle the bizarre rants and extreme lies on Wednesday morning over a fresh cup of coffee.
So…what about you? If you haven’t done anything nice for yourself yet this week, let this be your nudge to correct that. ❤️
And with that, here’s what’s coming up this fall at Active Voice. See you soon!

Then join us in the chat—we’ll be cheering on all the speakers and starting spicy conversations about how to actually deal with all those demands to “prove your value” (without burning out).

So many managers have told us recently that they’re struggling: overwhelmed by their team’s needs, undervalued by their orgs, and unsure of how to be successful. So this summer, we partnered with Urszula Pruchniewska, PhD, to design a study that would help us understand this group better: How’s their wellbeing? What’s most challenging for them? And what do they need from their leaders and orgs right now?
We heard from 132 managers working in design/UX (including research and content)—and now we’re ready to share what we learned. Join us September 30 for a free one-hour session to hear highlights and key takeaways from the research. And yes: this session will be recorded! Everyone who registers will get the recording, plus a copy of the full research report.

Jen is running one last session of this workshop series for 2024! If you’re a manager or team lead—or want to become one—this program is for you. Over 8 hours of workshops—plus a 1:1 coaching session with Jen—you’ll learn the coaching and conflict resolution skills you need to level up your team, navigate your org, and thrive as a manager.
This is the last session of the Manager’s Playbook we’ll run in 2024, and attendance is limited to 16 people.
Taking a promotion is always a no-brainer…right?
